Default Re: HomeNet setup problems

An odd thing is that if I try to access Homenet PDA with my cellphone, from outside my home WIFI, I get a message that the webpage can not be found. If I connect to my home WIFI, with the same phone, I can connect to Homenet PDA with no problem. If I do not close the browser on my phone but disconnect from my WIFI (connecting to the Internet via my cellphone service instead), I can still access Homenet PDA with my cellphone. As long as I don't close the cellphone's browser I can access Homenet PDA. Once I close my browser I can not access Homenet again until I first connect from inside my WIFI.

Again, this is a computer other than my HAL computer but it is on my home network. Outside my home network - I cannot connect. Smells like some sort of port forwarding problem but I don't know??? Experts - please help!
David,
Did you ever get this to work for you?

make sure you are using the public internet address and not your home network one. such as. home= 192.168.1.100 and the public=72.248.36.24
you can find out what your ip is by going to www.whatismyip.com
then dont forget you need to add to you home router a port fwd. so that your outside internet connection is fwd to your hal computer based on it port you gave it.
mike
you can still get to you home by the public if you use your cell phones internet provider. it is no diff then being away. but if you go on wifi. then you are getting a home ip. and it would only work while you were connected to your router.
hoped this helped
