Home Automated Living wants to give you every opportunity to
grow your HAL home control system and to keep it up-to-date.
This is done by updating or upgrading your HAL software.
Read the definitions below to determine if you want to
update or upgrade your system, then click on a link at left
to continue.
Update An update
is a newer version of the same software. This is shown
by a change in the last set of digits in the version number
(second set of digits doesn't change). For example, going
from version 1.3.50 of HALbasic to version 1.3.81 of HALbasic
is an update. An update contains minor fixes and features.
There is no charge for an update. Go to the Downloads
page to download the latest update. A CD of the update
can also be requested for a nominal fee (click the Order
a CD option at left).
Click here for information on determining what version
of the software you're running.
Version Upgrade This is an upgrade within
the same software. This is shown by a change in the first
or second set of digits in the version number (third set of digits
may change as well). For example, going from version 1.2.19
of HAL2000 to version 1.3.50 of HAL2000 is a version upgrade.
There is a small fee for a version upgrade. The latest
upgrade is going from version 1.x or version 2.x up to version
3.7. Click Version Upgrade
at left for information on upgrading to version 3.7.
Software Upgrade This
is an upgrade from one software product to another. For
instance, if you own HALbasic you can upgrade to HALdeluxe or
HAL2000. If you own HALdeluxe you can upgrade to HAL2000.
Currently there is no upgrade option beyond HAL2000 (HALdmc
and HALvoices also do not have upgrade options). The cost
of the upgrade depends on which software you're upgrading. When
you upgrade to another software product, you automatically receive
the most up-to-date version of that software, so there's no need
to do a Version Upgrade first.
